Kemp is on State highways 175 and 274 and Farm roads 1895 and 1391 near Cedar Creek Reservoir. Kemp is eight miles southeast of Kaufman in southeastern Kaufman County.
Kemp was named for Malvina Kemp Watkins, wife of John Marr Watkins, the first postmaster, and was officially established when the post office opened in 1851.

Smoke Testing 03/06/2017
Smoke testing for the sewer lines will begin on 03/06/17 on Tolosa Road, if you notice smoke in your house please call 903-498-3191. The smoke is not harmful, but we need to be notified so that we can address any issues that may be present in the home.
